Home >> Causes of Depression
Depression is regarded not to have any particular cause. However, it has been confirmed by medical experts that the exact true causes of this disabling disorder are biological and medical in nature.
It is believed that there are three great factors in the contribution of clinical depression. These three aspects are: psychological, biological and environmental.
How and why these factors trigger depression will be the main issue of this article. The three most common causes of depression will be dealt in separate ways.
The most usual psychological factors are the ones brought about by our own minds. For instance, men are believed to be stronger than women; that is why they do not talk about their problems; but in reality, men get hurt too, and they ache on the inside as well.
Whenever a person is not able to talk freely, all thoughts will be kept in his mind, and that would be of great burden to the person.
Personal dilemmas, stressful situations, and unbearable circumstances that get out of hand are very stimulating to a person's mind. However, the psychological factor does not scientifically prove anything.
It only shows how a person's mind affects his emotions.
One of the causes of depression is related to your environment and the most difficult of all situations is when you have the burdens to solve and yet nobody is helping you. Lack of support from family can also reflect as a cause of depression.
In the United States, most people are very independent; they often solve problems on their own and not ask anyone for help. In doing this, people become very stressed and troubled.
Another environmental factor would include the weather. Studies show that in places where there is less sunlight, people usually suffer from depression. This is because serotonin, a neurotransmitter, changes levels. Again, the environmental factor is not a proven fact by medical experts.
Causes of depression that are accepted by scientists and experts are related to biological factors. They say that the body's emotions are governed by three leading neurotransmitters, and these are: serotonin, norepinephrine and dopamine. Changes in the levels of any of these neurotransmitters are believed to cause depression.
So if you think that you are depressed, you must tell your doctor right away. There are numerous depression treatments out there; you just have to choose the one that best fits you. These treatments will hopefully make you enjoy life once more; and the sooner you get the therapy, the sooner you will feel better.
