You just found out you have hepatitis and you must be wondering whether a certain diet will help alleviate your condition and help you to regain your health and strength, while also providing relief from the symptoms that accompany your condition. Before deciding on the efficacy of any diet, it would be best to find out what foods to include and to avoid in your diet.

  1. Eat raw vegetables and fruit for 2-3 weeks. Start this diet with a cleansing fast!

  2. Include artichokes in your diet. Artichokes protect the liver.

  3. Drink green vegetable juice, carrot juice and beet juice.

  4. Drink only steam-distilled water.

  5. Avoid alcohol in any form. Also avoid medications that are supposed to be alcohol-free but contain compounds related to alcohol.

  6. Avoid all fats, sugar, and highly processed foods.

  7. Avoid raw fish, shellfish and animal protein.

  8. Avoid chemicals and food additives.

  9. When traveling, beware of contaminated water or foods from polluted waters.

Other Helpful Recommendations

  1. Get plenty of bed rest

  2. Use chlorophyll-containing enemas such as fresh wheatgrass juice three times a week. Use 1 pint and retain it for 15 minutes. Do not take any drugs not prescribed by your physician. Read medication labels or package inserts for information on liver toxicity.

  3. Taking excessive amounts of Vitamin A for a long period of time may cause elevated liver enzymes.

  4. If you have been taking 5,000 I.U. of Vitamin A for more than a year, it is recommended to reduce your intake or to take the emulsion form, which is less harmful to the liver.
