The muscles in the small of your back down towards the pelvis are ones that are often sore. This is a rather standard lower back pain and is typically the result of misuse. For example, if you bend at the waist instead of the knees to pick something up, then you are putting all the pressure on your back muscles to straighten you back up. And that is not what they are meant for. They are not heavy lifting muscles like your thighs and buttocks. So use the big muscles for the big lifting, your back will thank you.
