Destroy Excited Free Radicals with Melatonin

Antioxidants >> Melatonin

This naturally occurring hormone found in most animals, humans, and some other living organisms, including algae is believed to be effective in destroying free radicals and unpaired oxygen, an "excited" molecule that can discharge excessive energy and cause damage to other molecules.

Most antioxidants can work only in certain parts of certain cells, but, melatonin can break in any cell in any part of the body.

It is one of the antioxidants that can infiltrate the cells 'power plants' -- the mitochondria and appears to protect the mitochondria from free radical damage.

In experiments, supplementation with this hormone has been found to extend the life span of laboratory mice.

In other non-human laboratory testing, it has shown to inhibit cancer growth, help balance the immune system, and protect against degenerative diseases.

It also stimulates another antioxidant enzyme, glutathione peroxidase.

"I had this book when I had cancer in 2003; it was wonderful. It was the most extensive and knowledgeable book on herbs for cancer that I have ever seen. It's chock full of information.

What I also appreciated very much is that she discusses the various chemotherapies and what herbs to take to complement them. I had never seen anything like that. And when she said that anybody who had Hodgkin's should never take ascorbic acid, that was information never seen. It was a wonderful companion during my illness and I am very grateful for it. I wish that it was updated".
