What is Organic Food?
If you have not already heard of natural organic food, then it is definitely time for you to. In the simplest terms, natural organic food is food that has been grown all natural, without the use of non-organic fertilizers, pesticides and other chemicals.
Organics is the fastest growing sector in the food industry, and while a decade ago organically grown produce made up less than one percent of the grocery business in North America, today a large majority of people are buying natural organic food. The organic food market has definitely taken off, as more and more people are realizing what organic food is and all the health benefits it offers. What's Out There?
There is much more than just organic vegetable and fruits, although these tend to be the most talked about. There is also wine, organic poultry, organic milk, cheese, butter, and even organic processed foods such as chips and pastas.
Most of the organic food that is sold in the markets and various other outlets is in the fresh form, however you can also find it frozen too. What is organic food... also includes organically processed foods that are widely popular and this food covers a huge range in supermarkets around North America.
Various other products such as frozen vegetables, canned foods, cereal, peanut butter, and other ready to eat foods are labeled as organic as long as the production and processing of these foods have not involved the use of any chemicals. As well, all of the foods that are classified as being organic have had to conform to the required standards, so you know when you see a label stating that a food item is organic that it really is.
Where to Look?
If you want to start eating natural organic food but are not sure where to go, you should know that your local supermarkets should all carry at least a remotely decent selection. However, if you can’t seem to find what you are looking for here, you should check out health food stores in your area or the farmers market or specialty organics stores where there will be more of a selection of natural organic food to choose from.
If you are still stuck on conventional food and not sure if you want to make the switch, the best idea is for you to start introducing organic foods slowly into your diet. For instance the next time you go out to get strawberries or pasta, make sure that you get it organic.
